Successful Theatre fundraiser -  18/8/2010
The Kiwanis Internet Club of Bayside, with some assistance from the Brighton Vic Kiwanis Club, have completed another highly successful Theatre night fundraiser.

The Brighton Theatre Group stage four productions each year.  They provide tickets to non profit community groups to attend each production, allowing the community groups to sell the tickets as a fund raising activity.

Caboolture Terrific Kid presentation -  21/7/2010
The Caboolture Primary School held the Term 2 Awards Assembly this afternoon.  Three Club Members attended and presented Terrific Kid buttons to each Class nominee for the Terrific Kid Award.

The School Terrific Kid is a Year 5 male student who received his Award following a huge improvement in his reading.


New Kiwanis Worldwide Project -  25/6/2010
The Kiwanis International Convention held in Las Vegas was the venue for the announcement of the Worldwide Project for Kiwanis around the world over the coming five years.

Term 2 Kiwanis BUG's Awards and Terrific Kids Awards -  25/6/2010
The Kiwanis BUG's (Bring UP Grades) presentation was made by Club President Beni at Westall Primary School at the end of Term 2 School Assembly.

The BUG program is designed to encourage students to improve their academic achievement and is taken quite seriously with the winner, the student whose exam results over the term have improved the most, receiving a $25.00 voucher for use in any of the Coles/Myer stores.

Teddy Bears Picnic -  30/5/2010
The Family Fun Day at Bunnings Dandenong with a 'Teddy Bears Picnic' theme went off very well with 25 children attending.  It was unfortunately forced indoors because of the very wet and windy conditions.

Our Club works in co-operation with the 'Childrens Work Shop' and Bunnings to organise these Family Fun Day functions as well as other community groups like the Girl Guides and the Lions Club.  A measure of the satisfaction and confidence in Margie, our Community Service Co-ordinator,

Jumble Sale at Caboolture -  8/5/2010
The Kiwanis Internet Club of Bayside hired space at the annual Fernhill RSL Village Hall, to help raise funds for the establishment of a Palliative Care facility at the Fernhill RSL village at Caboolture.


Terrific Kids presentation -  28/4/2010
The 2010 Term 1 Terrific Kid presentation assembly at Caboolture State Primary School in Queensland involved a change in the usual practices.  In the past, the Terrific Kid was selected by a Committee of School staff who selected the winner from a group of students, one selected by the teacher from each class.

This year we have fine tuned the presentation to include all the individual class winners being recognised by the school at the assembly, with the Terrific Kid then being announced

Kiwanis One Day -  9/4/2010
Kiwanis International promotes Kiwanis One Day to Clubs around the World, to perform projects of a caring nature and to spend time with members of the public who are normally more socially isolated, all on the same date, 10 April.  We chose 9 April to better suit our planning and access to the available facilities.

Easter 2010 Chocolate Raffle -  5/4/2010
The citizens of the small village of Warburton, just to the north east of Melbourne and where one of our Victorian members lives, have really turned on their generosity to support our Easter Chocolate Raffle.  Most of the tickets were sold from a footpath stall outside a local Warburton business over several weekends leading up to the 29th March drawing date.

Terrific Kids and BUG's presentations at Victorian Schools -  26/3/2010
The Amsliegh Park Primary School 'Terrific Kids' presentation and the Westall Primary School 'BUG's' (Bring Up Grades) presentation, were both presented on Friday 26 March 2010, the final day of Term 1 in Victoria.  The photograph shows one of the 2 students awarded the Terrific Kid Award at Amsliegh Park Primary School, approaching the Principal to receive her prize from our Club President at the school assembly held in the school gymnasium.


School Band Uniform Fund -  17/3/2010
The Caboolture State Primary School Band was placed first at a school band competition in 2009.  This was the very first competition they had entered.  The Band has decided to continue to compete but wish to all appear in the same 'uniform' and we donated $100.00 towards them achieving that goal.  The $100.00 cheque was handed to the Band Captain at a special assembly by one of our members.  We congratulate the band on their achievements so far and wish them well in future(more)


Cinema and Luncheon - Brighton Vic -  17/2/2010
More than 20 patrons attended a screening of the new musical "Nine" at Brighton Vic.  These fundraisers are held regularly but on this occasion the funds raised are to be applied to the Haiti Earthquake Appeal. 

The Club's $500.00 donation to the Haiti Earthquake Appeal has been forwarded to Canada as the Haiti Kiwanis Clubs are part of the East Canadian District.  By making our donation in this manner, our funds attract grants from the Kiwanis International Foundation and the

BBQ and Boating Fun Day -  7/2/2010
A group of Autistic children and their families enjoyed a boating fun day and BBQ at the Albert Sailing Club thanks to the organisation of the annual fun day by the Commodore of the Sailing Club and the Kiwanis Internet Club of Bayside.

Several Kiwanians from other nearby Clubs and staff of MOiRA Southern Interchange (services for young people with disabilities) helped out on the day, to make it an extremely happy and exciting day for approximately 40 children and adults.


Kiwanis Community Billboards -  22/1/2010
The first of four Kiwanis Community Billboards has been erected at the Armstrong and Richardson Streets roundabout at Middle Park.  The other three Boards will be erected at locations in suburbs nearby.

The signs are sponsored by Buxton Real Estate while Fuzzy Ads created the art work. Printco rolled the art work picture on the board, and another advertising company called Briner, installed the Billboard.

Dandenong Vic “Foundation House for Survivors of Torture” Asylum Seekers  -  20/12/2009
Dandenong Vic “Foundation House for Survivors of Torture” organised a BBQ and Christmas party for 100 to 150 asylum seekers in the local Museum gardens.

Kiwanis members from Brighton Vic, Berwick Vic, and the Internet Club of Bayside variously supported the party by donating funds towards purchasing the food and cooking and serving the meals.

Terrific Kids Presentation Amsliegh Park Primary School -  18/12/2009
2 students received Terrific Kids awards for Term 4 2009 at Amsliegh Park Primary School today.  E-Kiwanis Bayside Club President Beni Avallone presented the prizes to the students at the School Assembly.


Bring Up Grades awards - Term 4 2009 -  18/12/2009
Club President Beni presented two Westall Primary School students with prizes sponsored by Melbourne's Bentliegh Club for achieving the best increase in their grades for Term 4 2009 at the end of year School Assembly.


Marysville Band Rotunda rebuilt by Kiwanis Members -  13/12/2009
The historic Marysville Band Rotunda that was destroyed in the Feb 2009 bushfires was rebuilt by Members of a number of Melbourne Kiwanis Clubs and reopened in time for the Christmas Carols on 13 December.  The Rats of Tobruk Pipe Band provided music for the occasion.


Container of gifts to Bougainville -  12/12/2009
Club members are assisting with the collection of a container load of clothing and toys that will be taken to Bougainville when the container is full for distribution among needy families.  If anyone has childrens' and adults' clothes, toys, or other household items, please contact us to arrange transport/collection, so these items that are very hard to get in Bougainville can be distributed.


Caboolture State Primary School Term 4 2009 - Terrific Kid  -  7/12/2009
The Terrific Kid presentation for Term 4 2009 at Caboolture State Primary School in Queensland was attended by Club members Lesley and Carmen.  Carmen presented the Yr 2 student with her Terrific Kid prizes and addressed the School Assembly, assuring students, parents and teachers that our Club would continue to support the school with our Kiwanis Terrific Kids program.  Our Term 4 Terrific Kid submitted an interesting story titled "Journey to Italy" that was judged to be a worthy(more)


Christmas Wrapping -  4/12/2009
Club members Carmen and Lesley helped local groups Zonta and Knitting for Brisbane's Needy raise over $230.00 by wrapping gifts for a gold coin donation at a nearby shopping centre.  Carmen is pictured with a Zonta volunteer.


MS - Megaswim - Kiwanis Club of Melbourne -  21/11/2009
The Kiwanis Club of Melbourne has completed their fundraiser for MS Australia, the 24 hour Mega Swim.

Our Club sponsored Bill Craig and the Kiwanis Krazy Kippers team for $250.00, and in all likelihood they will be the third highest fundraisers, with a tremendous $3300.00 sponsorship raised.  The Kiwanis team swam 43.5 kilometres during the 24 hours to claim their sponsorship rewards.

Double Induction Ceremony -  14/11/2009
President Beni and husband Bill took time out from their Sunshine Coast Holiday to perform a double Induction Ceremony on Saturday 14 November 2009.  Pres Beni welcomed Bruce and Collette to Kiwanis by pinning the badges on and presenting them with a Certificate to honour the occasion of their induction.  A beautiful meal was enjoyed at Spinnakers Seafood Restaurant, overlooking Spinnaker Shores Marina and the pristine Pumicestone Passage that separates Bribie Island from the(more)

Community Fun Day - Bunnings Dandenong -  31/10/2009
Community Service Director Margie Gray and Bunnings co-ordinated a Community Fun Day in the grounds of Bunnings Dandenong Hardwarehouse.  Scouts, Guides, and other community groups had the opportunity to fundraise for themselves and Greater City of Dandenong Council Rangers advised the public on pet care and responsible pet ownership.  Lions Club provided tea/coffee and cordial drinks and took orders for Lions Christmas Cakes.  On the day preceeding the Community Fun Day,(more)


Imm Past Dist Sec Bill presents Kiwanis Award to Secretary Peter -  26/10/2009
Qld members enjoyed a meal at Spinnakers Seafood Restaurant near Bribie Island to celebrate Secretary Peter's Best Club Secretary Award for the 2008-2009 Kiwanis year.  Immediate Past District Secretary Bill and his wife Heather travelled to the Sunshine Coast to present the Kiwanis Award to Peter.


JDRF Walk for a Cure -  18/10/2009
JDRF Walk for a Cure volunteer Marshall, Club President Beni, assisted the thousands of walkers who participated in the 5 kilometre walk around Albert Park Lake in Melbourne on Sunday 18 October 2009.  There were plenty of entertainment options for the kids and opportunities for the adults to purchase JDRF promotional items at the many stalls around the Lake.  The weather was cold and cloudy but it did not deter the walkers who helped out in the major annual fundraiser to raise funds(more)


Terrific Kids presentation Caboolture State Primary School -  14/10/2009
Four Kiwanis members attended the Caboolture State Primary School Assembly today to present the Term 3 Terrific Kid with his prizes.  The proud parents of our Terrific Kid were also able to attend the Assembly and watch their son be presented with the Terrific Kid Award and prizes by club member Leslie.  The Terrific Kid's computer animation impressed the judges most, although all the presentations of the students selected by the teachers were outstanding and the Kiwanis Internet Club(more)
