Secretary Peter wanted to keep in touch with e-Kiwanis Bayside members while travelling away from his Queensland home in 2008. Euroka Station, north east of Conargo NSW, did not have suitable internet or mobile phone facilities available. Using a USB broadband connection, Peter was able to make a connection, with the help of a boost to reception provided by the wire netting surrounding the Euroka homestead tennis court. This demonstrates one of the advantages enjoyed by Kiwanis Internet Club members. They are able to 'attend' Kiwanis meetings in spite of limitations they face that would ordinarily exclude them from joining a Service Club. The limitations to membership of a traditional Club faced by e-Kiwanis Bayside members include, living in an isolated location, or, the time and expense needed to travel to a traditional meeting.
Men and women of good character over 18 years of age, who can obtain or currently hold a 'working with children' card, and who are committed to serving their communities, are needed to help carry out community service on behalf of our Club and improve the lives of children.
Potential members may be former Kiwanians who have retired and moved to a new location that is not blessed with a Kiwanis Club; or,
are men or women living in isolation, on a property or in a small community, who are unable to travel to town to attend meetings; or,
are aged or disabled and have difficulty attending meetings; or,
are retirees 'on the wallaby' or workers who travel for the purpose of their employment, making regular meeting attendance difficult; or,
are a person who lives in their community, who can see things that could be better, and believe that with the aid of a few helpers, they can make a difference.
