Club Celebrations and Presentations:  Kiwanis Bayside e-Club Melbournians'  Inaugural Membership Presentation at The Bentleigh Club on 19  Nov 2008

The Club's newest Member Sue Kimberley was formally presented by Honorary Member Maurie with a Kiwanis Bayside Internet Club Membership Certificate and a Kiwanis Pin. Welcome to Kiwanis, Congratulations and Thank you, Sue.

Past District Governor Peter Kimberley, Sue's husband, presented the Club's Honorary Member Maurie with a Certificate of Appreciation and a Timorese Lai stole for sponsoring four young students' primary school education at the Don Bosco Salesian College in Fuiloro East Timor. Thank You, Maurie, for choosing such a worthy cause. We are very proud of you and your generosity. Peter Kimberley, who is the incumbent East Timor Dairy Project Committee Leader,  did the honours representing Don Bosco College Curator Fr. Manuel Ximenes.

Past District Governor, Dairy Project Initiator, and former Club Member Kevin Wood presented Maurie with a Certificate of Appreciation from Kiwanis Bayside Internet Club for sponsoring the Club's Website total Costs for a whole year. Thanks once again, Maurie. The Club treasures your Honorary Membership.

Octagarenian Jim Curtain whose birthday is in a week's time, was pleasantly surprised with a Birthday Card and Best Wishes for a happy, healthy and safe life. Jim is a very active "hands-on" Kiwanian and has dual Kiwanis Membership  with Kiwanis Bayside Internet Club and Kiwanis Brighton (VIC) Club. We were especially pleased to see Jim looking so healthy and jovial again after a recent fall resulting in hospitalisation with a broken nose. Congratulations, Jim.

WELCOME to Kiwanis Bayside Internet Club Membership: Sue Kimberley and Shirley Donaghey

SUE KIMBERLEY was inducted online during the Club's Chat Room e-Meeting held on Monday 20th October. Although Sue is a new Kiwanis Member, she is definitely not new to Kiwanis. Sue has been much involved with Kiwanis alongside her husband Peter, with his many Kiwanis Australia District executive portfolios and Kiwanis Asia-Pacific representations. Over the years, Sue has participated in many hands-on community service activities with two other Kiwanis Clubs Peter belongs to, and other volunteer commitments. Sue's active membership is a great asset to the Kiwanis Community Service and our Club.

SHIRLEY DONAGHEY joined the Kiwanis Organisation here in Australia sixteen years ago. Three months ago, Shirley decided to transfer her Membership to the Kiwanis Internet Club of Bayside as online meetings now suit her better. We welcome Shirley and all those who, for whatever personal circumstances they experience, find it difficult to continue on attending traditional meetings.

Thank you, Shirley and Sue for choosing Kiwanis Bayside Internet as your Club.

ANOTHER "TERRIFIC KIDS" PROGRAM JUST STARTED

Kiwanis Bayside Internet Club welcomes and congratulates Amsleigh Park State Primary School, Oakleigh, Victoria for accepting this Kiwanis Sponsored Youth Program. This is to be run on the same lines of the first program for our Club established in Caboolture Queensland last March, and also one established five years ago by one of our members at Westall Primary School Clayton South VIC.

Amsleigh Park PS Principal and Teaching Staff have decided to launch the Terrific Kids program at their School early in the scholastic year 2009.

Thanks to Melbourne Football Club for financially supporting this new Program.

THREE OTHER PRIMARY SCHOOLS ARE INVITED

Following the successful "Terrific Kids" Program  at Caboolture in Queensland, we are now contacting other schools to take on the Kiwanis Sponsored Youth Programs, one for "Terrific Kids" and two for "Bring Up Grades" ( BUG).

Both programs are highly motivational for primary school students aged 5 to 12 encouraging them not only to do better academically, but also promoting good exemplary behavior, building self-esteem, nurturing healthy habits, establishing smart goals, improving study skills, and accomplishing set academic tasks.

Students chosen by the teaching staff are rewarded each school term with a certificate, badge, gift/voucher, and given all the publicity they deserve.

Local Business Sponsors financially support these programs. Two successful submissions for monetary Grants by our Club, and donations of story Books and Sports equipment from two other sources have made these programs possible.
